Summary of cottage details and location

The cottage

'Gorse Lea' is a cosy, stone-built end-of-terrace cottage sleeping up to 4 people, with a garden and off-street parking.

The kitchen

The farmhouse-style kitchen is warmed by an AGA, which also supplies piping-hot water. It is furnished with a family sized table, an impressive dresser and a 1950s vintage fridge. French windows lead into the garden. Next to the kitchen is a utility area with washing machine, freezer, coat cupboard, boot store and toilet.

The lounge

A warm and bright lounge is furnished with a large comfy sofa, chairs, a log-burning stove (fuel provided), TV/Video/DVD, and hi-fi.

Bedroom 1

Stairs lead from the lounge to the first floor where the master bedroom has a double bed, walk-in wardrobe, original cast-iron fireplace and views of the front garden.

Bedroom 2

The second bedroom contains a double bed along with a built-in wardrobe/storage and a view over the rear garden and surrounding hills.

Bathroom

The warm bathroom with white suite - bath with shower over - also contains the airing cupboard.

Garden

Surrounding the cottage is a garden with seating and eating areas, with access to off-street parking.

The cottage cat

In traditional country style this cottage comes with its own very friendly cat! (all food will be provided)

The village

Baslow is a beautiful, traditional Derbyshire village in the Peak District National Park. The village is within walking distance of Chatsworth House, with its park, gardens, farmyard and playground. Wonderful walks, cycle-rides and pubs are nearby. A well-stocked grocery shop is 250 yards from the cottage and also in the village is a Post Office, gallery, a Methodist chapel and a 12th century church.

There are many places of interest within a short driving distance - Tudor Haddon Hall, Bakewell of pudding fame and other attractions, the Blue John Caverns of Castleton, Hathersage with its heated outdoor swimming pool and the plague village of Eyam. A lovely walk from the cottage over Curbar Edge brings you to Calver with its Craft Centre and enticing coffee shop. Bike trails criss-cross the area. The vibrant cultural hub of Sheffield, with restaurants, cinemas, museums and galleries, is less than half an hour away.

Prices

Rental is generally Saturday 3pm to Saturday 10am but long weekends Friday to Monday could be arranged. All linens, heating and electricity are included. It would be very much appreciated if the cottage could be left in a clean and tidy condition.

The cottage has three price bands and all bookings need to be confirmed with a £100 deposit, with the remaining balance due one month before arrival.
